How to Choose a BESS Cabinet
Choosing a BESS cabinet is less about picking a rating from a list and more about describing your site accurately enough that the right cabinet can be assembled and integrated for it. Work through the checklist in order; each answer narrows the specification.
The checklist
- Name the leading duty: peak shaving, solar integration, backup support, or a blend with one clear priority
- Bring the load profile: when demand peaks, how the site runs across a week, and which loads are essential
- State the solar position: array installed, array planned, or no array
- Walk the placement: outdoor position, base, distance to the main distribution board, access for maintenance
- Ask how the cabinet is integrated: battery modules, management, inverter and protection as one documented system
- Ask for the warranty split by component, the way the documented model in this catalogue presents it
- Ask which certificates and documents cover the exact cabinet configuration
Compare quotations only after every supplier has answered the same list. A lower price against a thinner specification is the most common false economy in cabinet storage, and it usually shows up first in the module layout or the warranty wording. The documented cabinet page shows the completeness to ask for: module layout, cycle reference, inverter model as listed, and warranty terms split by component.
Finally, treat sizing as a conversation, not a conclusion. Bring your best load figures, say plainly where they are estimates, and let the integration discussion test them before anything is ordered.
